Crew-power behind the scenes

Habegger | 1 December 2025

No event runs without them: the people who make everything possible behind the scenes. Whether it’s stage, lighting, sound, or décor – countless gears interlock on every production site. In our latest podcast episode, we dive into the topic of the production crew. In this blog post, we take it a step further. It’s all about team spirit, precision, shared values, and that special vibe that makes every production unique.

We spoke with Andrea Barben (Project Coordinator), Andy Ott (Project Manager), Fabrice Kern (Video Technician), and Vera Germann (Project Coordinator) to gain deeper insight into what it’s really like to work as part of an event crew.

Values you can feel – commitment, innovation, appreciation

At every production site, company values come to life. Commitment shows when everyone can rely on one another. Innovation becomes significantly clear when creative solutions emerge despite change of plans. Even when things don’t go exactly as expected, the crew manages to react quickly and professionally. Appreciation can be felt in the small moments: a pat on the back after a long day, or shared laughter among cables and cases.

Challenges between technology, time pressure, and precision

Some projects come with tight deadlines – which makes it all the more important to stay calm and focused in hectic moments to avoid careless mistakes. That’s why strong teamwork and seamless communication are essential.

When the trucks roll in and setup begins, every minute counts. Screws getting tightened, cables connected, structures going up – everything has to fit perfectly. Habegger employees and many freelancers have been working closely together for a long time. This creates a synergy that works without many words – everyone knows what to do, and everything runs smoothly.

The biggest challenges during production:

  • Tight schedules and high precision

  • Technical complexity and spontaneous changes

  • Staying focused when things get hectic

  • Communication across multiple departments

Teamwork – the heart of every production

When pressure mounts and every minute counts, teamwork is the pulse that keeps everything running. A positive team spirit grows from honest communication, clear goals, and mutual trust. When everyone understands the daily objective and feels secure, motivation soars. As a Project Manager, it helps to think several steps ahead and address conflicts early – together you usually find the best solutions. The more responsibility each crew member is trusted with, the greater the fun factor – which, in turn, strengthens morale. People help, lift, laugh – and sometimes just quietly understand. Without trust and unity, no light would shine, no sound would play, and no stage would stand. Success is never a solo act – it’s the result of many hands working in rhythm.

Together Instead of Side by Side

All four of our interviewees agree: we don’t leave anyone behind. If someone’s having a rough day, someone brings them their favorite drink or keeps their meal warm. Our workdays aren’t 9-to-5 – we often work in shifts, spend days away from home – so the crew becomes like a second family.

True teamwork means looking out for each other, even when the schedule is tight or fatigue sets in. Everyone knows: if one person drops out, the others step in. This mindset – thinking ahead, helping, and being there for one another – is what turns a crew into a real team.

Trust in Confined Spaces

Some of the most beautiful production moments happen when everything runs perfectly – when the crew trusts each other blindly and the flow is seamless. Working side by side for long hours – sometimes at dizzying heights during stage setup – creates strong bonds. Trust is the invisible safety net that holds firm, even in stressful moments.

When It Counts

Every production brings its own challenges – especially in a new venue, where conditions need to be learned from scratch.

Is there enough power? Does the site need to be secured? Is the floor suitable?
These are questions that must be clarified early on. Here it becomes clear how vital an experienced, alert, and supportive team truly is. A team is only as strong as its weakest link – and teamwork reveals itself not only when everything goes smoothly, but especially when things go wrong.

If materials are missing, a crew member drops out, or plans have to be rethought, that’s when a strong crew proves itself: with flexibility, unity, and the shared goal of delivering a flawless event. Despite all the stress, the joy always wins in the end – when everything works out and the crew can proudly look back on what they’ve achieved together.
