What is a hybrid event?

A hybrid event caters to an event’s target group using two different communication channels: physically on site and digitally via the web. This creates an exciting concept that is oriented simultaneously towards the audience on site and the digital viewers, thus opening up countless possibilities. Unlimited participation and interaction in real-time around the globe are just two of them.

The hybrid event allows you the ideal way to address digital and physical audiences. While the digital offer achieves large reach and can be communicated with various participants irrespective of location, content can be experienced with all the senses in the physical part of the event. Products can be touched, and personal communication and contact take priority.

 

The difference from the viewpoint of the participant can generally be seen in the supporting programme. An example of this: During the welcome aperitif for the physical guests, the digital viewers are introduced to the event topic with a backstage report. All of the participants come together for the main part of the event.

This allows for a comprehensive brand experience, even though not all of the participants are physically present. Elegant solutions are also available for the interaction between the participant groups.

Satellite event: the decentralised hybrid

Satellite events are a special kind of hybrid event. With this format, an event is spread across multiple event locations. At the same time, the individual “satellites” are connected to each other – for instance, with overarching programme items. Companies are thus able to orient their content towards the target group attending at the specific location, and yet still be part of an integrated, shared event. Thanks  to their decentralised component, satellite events also allow networking and workshops to take place in small groups, and create a personal atmosphere and an approachable brand experience. They also help minimise travelling distances and time expenditure for the participants.

Greater planning security, greater reach!
We planned the Habegger Academy webinar on “Hybrid Events” in spring 2021 as a hybrid event. The reason for this was the prospect of the Swiss Federal Council lifting the ban on holding events. Around a week before the webinar, the ban was extended and it was no longer possible to receive physical guests. However, thanks to hybrid planning, we were able to keep everything under control. We held the webinar in an exclusively digital format and were able to welcome over 550 guests online. Live from Trafo Baden.
