Next Lightshow – Vote for our apprentices

Habegger | 28 March 2022

Our next generation is taking the spotlight. Four apprentices from Event Technology are currently taking part in the international competition “Next Lightshow” and competing against other apprentices from Germany and Austria in the categories Live and Lighting Design. The voting is now open.

Ennio, Annina, Eric and Lewi are proudly presenting their projects for the “Next Lightshow” competition. The apprentices from Event Technology have spent several weeks designing and implementing them, and two thrilling light shows have been created.

Hands-on learning

“When we found out about the competition, it was clear to us right from the start that we’d be taking part,” explains Ennio. For the creative junior technicians, the “Next Lightshow” is an opportunity to compete against other apprentices from Germany and Austria while also designing a light show from A-Z. Ennio says: “Of course, we want to know whether our skills put us among the best. But, for me, it’s also great preparation for the final apprenticeship examination.”

The award

The “Next Lightshow” Award is being presented for the first time in 2022 by the transnational education platform “EventCampus” and is awarded to creative apprentices for their achievements in the practical area of Light Show/Lighting Design. The award is supported by the SVTB (Swiss Association of Technical Stage and Event Professions). Participants have to submit a 90-second video of their light show in one of the categories Live, Theatre, Fixed Objects/Trade Fair or Animation. Alongside the public vote, an expert jury will decide on the winner. 500 euros and a trophy – which is being awarded as part of this year’s Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt am Main – await the winners.
