Delicious food, garlands and good music: festival feeling in the midst of Zurich Oerlikon. At the “Energy is Life” employee event organised by Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich (EKZ), the name said it all. The approximately 1,200 employees enjoyed an urban summer festival. In Hall 622, an ingeniously decorated festival area with various food and activity zones awaited them. Among other things, participants could take refreshments at food trucks in the outdoor area, get artistic in the airbrush corner or relax in the chill-out area.
Staged power blackout
The highlight of the site was the main stage, where various Swiss acts performed throughout the evening. A staged blackout by the comedy duo Lapsus caused a sensation. This led on elegantly to the performance by the dance crew LED Dancer, who brought light and colour into the darkness with their piece “Blackouts”.
Well-thought-out event journey
The employee event was especially notable for its event dramaturgy and branding, which ran through the event as a common thread. Before the event took place, participants received a ticket they could exchange for a festival wristband on the day. There was also a merchandising corner on the grounds, where employees could exchange buttons – that could be won in various activities – for an EKZ Festival giveaway. This made sure the employee event will also have a lasting effect in everyday working life.
Event services from a single source
In 2019, Habegger won the EKZ pitch with this creative “one-stop” festival concept. As an event agency, we were responsible for all services – from creation (concept, design, content, dramaturgy) to construction and technical implementation and project management, including all event services such as catering, personnel and ticketing. However, due to the Covid pandemic, implementation was delayed by three years. The jubilation was all the greater at the beginning of July 2022, when EKZ employees were able to meet and exchange ideas without any worries at the employee event.
