Nordic Pavilion – EXPO 2025 Osaka

Five countries, one goal: to stage the future-oriented idea of Expo 2025, “Designing Future Society for our Lives”, with a unique, immersive pavilion. For the “Nordic Pavilion” showcasing Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, we were responsible for the entire AV technology as technical project manager and implementation partner – from the initial idea to the final commissioning, including dismantling at the end of the project.

The high design and technical demands required precise planning and meticulous realisation. Particularly outstanding: the millimetre-precise video mapping with supplied content and the seamless projection, in which light and visuals were precisely coordinated with each other. An interactive element in the roof, which reacts to movements on the ground, creates an immersive experience that actively involves visitors. In combination with a soundtrack supplied by the client, a multi-sensory space was created that turns the vision of the pavilion into a tangible experience.

The project involved highly complex technical realisation – internationally coordinated, precisely timed and delivered under the special conditions of a major global event. Challenges such as rigging-specific and other official authorisation procedures, as well as logistics with limited access to the huge Expo site, demanded not only technical expertise from our six-strong team, but also a high degree of flexibility and international experience.

The collaboration with the consortium of Exponex/Wintenex as general contractor and KVORNING Design, Rintala Eggertsson Architects and Gagarin as design partners required intensive coordination and foresighted planning – especially in the interaction between the five Nordic nations, which appear here as a unit.

The pavilion will run for six months, during which around 28 million visitors are expected. The “Nordic Pavilion” impressively demonstrates how creative cooperation, technological sensitivity and international expertise can create forward-looking spaces. We are proud to be part of this “once-in-a-lifetime” project – and to make a contribution to shaping the society of tomorrow.
