Broadcast duo for Habegger

Habegger | 5 December 2022

Since the beginning of the year, the Habegger family has grown by over 10%. We were able to recruit new live communication experts, including the two broadcast luminaries Andy Ott, Project Manager, and Thomas "Tomy" Kögl, Head of Broadcast – both old hands in the industry and a dream team at work.

Back to the roots

Some of you may still remember Tomy from the old days. The father of two worked for Habegger for a total of 16 years until he accepted a new challenge at NEP Switzerland in 2018. For the last 4 years, Tomy was responsible for the sales area there and expanded the commitment in the area of corporate and public productions. He has now been back in Regensdorf as Head of Broadcast since October 2022: “Everything used to be smaller, more compact and a bit more chaotic, but the Habegger feeling is still the same.”

Andy Ott was also able to experience the unique team feeling during her first days at Habegger. The dynamic project manager worked in marketing at the former Samsung Hall before completing a CAS in event management and focusing entirely on her passion as Head of Events & Catering at the Belvoirpark Hotel Management School (now Hotelfachschule Zürich). Tomy brought her into his team at NEP in 2020 and they are finally both back with us this year. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the best in the industry,” Andy declares.

The special cooperation

The dream team has already celebrated many joint successes in the past. With the Büetzer Buebe concert with NEP, for example, they were able to realise the largest open-air broadcast production in Switzerland. But what makes their collaboration so enriching? Both agree: “We have great communication, so we understand each other without words, each of us knows what the other is doing”. This allows Andy and Tomy to deputise on projects at any time.

Next-level broadcasting

However, this was not always the case: In the past, the broadcast area at Habegger was more like a one-man show. The pandemic caused a rethink. The demand for online and live broadcasting grew. Studios were built, solutions were developed, technologies have evolved rapidly. “Habegger is the industry leader in virtual reality studio productions, because there is no-one else in Switzerland who does this on such a large scale and has all the know-how in-house,” says Tomy. Broadcasting is always a “team sport”. Under the Habegger umbrella, we combine all the disciplines needed for a professional and successful production. “We are confident that we can always offer exciting solutions for hybrid events and VR,” Andy adds.

The duo’s last major production was scheduled for 18 November with the Energy Star Night. Together with around 13,000 fans, Energy Schweiz celebrated the concert highlight of the year in Zurich’s Hallenstadion. Habegger was once again responsible for the complete host broadcasting. A large TV OB van and a crew of around 35 people were deployed for this. A project of the heart, that Tomy had the opportunity to realise for the first time 12 years ago – then as now for Habegger.
